only children more at risk for obesity

According to a new study in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior published by Elsevier found that families with multiple children tend to make more healthy eating choices and that "singletons" (only-children) had less healthy eating habits and were more at risk for obesity.  Families with only 1 child tended to eat in front of the television more often, drink more sugary drinks and have higher BMIs.  "Nutrition professionals must consider the influence of family and siblings to provide appropriate and tailored nutrition education for families of young children.  Efforts to help all children and families establish healthy eating habits and practices must be encouraged."  Families can make small adjustments at home in order to have a high impact of healthier choices later on.  It is never too late to start improving on healthy choices.  science daily
