success for them

Want to set your children up for success?  Here are some tips for bringing up your family.  pocket
  • move to the best neighborhood you can afford - although controversial, it is effective
  • model + encourage good relationships - encourage them to nurture their own relationships too
  • praise children for the strategies + the process they use to solve problems  - growth mindset instead of fixed mindset
  • encourage housework + homework - "chores build a sense of accountability"
  • ensure they understand that you will always be supportive - comfort them when they need you
  • help them become resilient - trust your children to solve many of their own problems, and encourage risk-taking while also asserting your authority as a parent when it's sensible
  • advocate for them at school - parent involvement + advocacy is key for success - but do not do their work for them - instead, set them up for success
  • remind them of your high expectations - make sure this is done without guilt or shame, it is just your family's priority
  • hope that they find the right life partner - "marrying the right person leads people to perform better at work, earning more promotions, making more money, and feeling more satisfied with their jobs"
  • teach your children financial literacy + encourage entrepreneurial enterprises
